Another gem that can be found in our area is the Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest canyons in the world. Only the Grand Canyon in the United States and the Fish River Canyon in Namibia are bigger in size. The canyon is located about 30 minutes from the Taaibos Bush Lodge. It is the largest ‘green canyon’ in the world due to the subtropical vegetation. The Blyde River Canyon is 26 kilometres in length and is, on average, around 800m deep.
The best way to see the canyon is by boat. There are daily tours on the dam. On the deck of the boat you will get the best views over the mountains and the forest.
